Weight gain? You’re talking Garbage!
Look at the picture from the 1960s and compare it with one from 2023. You’ll see the difference right away. Back then, you’d rarely spot an obese person.
Does it mean that you are eating more food now than before (gluttony) - or is it simply the lack of will power?
Not really! Because, you can eat plenty and not gain weight. It’s only when you eat “garbage” that you will gain weight. And where do you find this sort of garbage? Go to a supermarket and everything there is garbage.
We are talking about biology, not willpower, or overeating. It’s about toxins - and this is what happens when you are exposed to these toxins.
Your appetite turns on and your fat storage capacity increases and you thereby pack on the pounds. This means that even after consuming the same number of calories and macronutrients, a diet rich in ultra-processed foods can lead to increased weight gain compared to diets containing minimally processed foods.
Out of the numerous toxins that are present in ultra -processed foods, be aware of a class of chemicals called glutamates and the most common of them is “monosodium glutamate” (aji-no-moto). Glutamates block, both your appetite mechanism and your fat storage control mechanism.
Eighty percent of all processed foods contain glutamates, so don’t expect to find “real” food in the supermarket.
Stick to homemade natural food as far as possible if you want to remain healthy - and aspire to the lean look of the 60s.
