Feel-Good - Look-Good - “PILL”
Long before humans discovered cardio contraptions and workout stations, physical activity was built into everyday life.
Inventions like cars, telephones, and computers liberated us from hard labour and created space for leisure activities like exercise. Yet, paradoxically, these labour-saving devices haven’t helped much - barely 10% of people work out regularly.
Interestingly, over the past 25 years, levels of depression and stress have steadily risen. As early as 1998, studies showed that men and women who trained regularly experienced less stress and tension on the days they exercised, and significantly higher stress on days they didn’t.
The tragedy is that despite overwhelming evidence about the psychological benefits of exercise through gyms, workout centres, and running tracks indoors and outdoors - such utilities still remain half empty.
We need to remind ourselves that exercise is far more than just a path to looking good. It keeps us energetic throughout the day and delivers powerful physical and psychological benefits over time.
So the next time you feel lethargic and assume that working out will make you feel even more tired, resist the urge to skip it - even if your brain is trying to persuade you otherwise.
